Cessna is an American aircraft manufacturer – from small doubles to business jets. Headquarters – Wichita, Kansas, USA. The company was founded in 1927 in Kansas by aircraft designer and designer Clyde Vernon Cessna. Purchased by General Dynamics Corporation in 1985. Since 1992, owned by Textron.
Cessna Aircraft was founded in 1927, originally under the name Cessna-Roos Aircraft Company. Victor Rus, co-owner of the company, ceded his share to Cessna after a month of work, and in the same year, his name disappeared from the name of the company. In 1932, the company suspended its work due to the economic crisis – the Great Depression. However, in 1933, the company released a unique sports aircraft, the CR-3, which won the American air race and set a speed record for aircraft with engines up to 500 cubic inches – 237 miles per hour.
In 1937, the Cessna C-37, the company’s first amphibious aircraft, was launched on the Edo floats. In 1940, the company received its largest order at the time – 33 specially equipped T-50 for the US Army. In the same year, the Canadian Air Force ordered another 180 T-50 aircraft.
